Cost per Successful Request Calculator

Put traffic, retries, success rate, and fixed platform spend on the same ledger. Compare your current unit cost with an explicit target scenario.

Formula and limits

Monthly spend = fixed monthly spend + monthly logical requests × (1 + additional retries per request) × cost per attempt. Cost per million successful requests = monthly spend ÷ (monthly logical requests × end-to-end success rate) × 1,000,000.

The model assumes every attempt has the same cost, the retry average applies across the workload, and the entered success rate describes final logical outcomes. It uses a 30-day month. It does not model traffic peaks, different retry costs, revenue impact, provider discounts, or correlated failures. Use measured telemetry and current rates; this is an estimate, not a provider quote.

Pair this model with the Agent Retry Cost Calculator, Error Budget Calculator, and RPS Envelope Estimator. Read the per-task inference cost model for an example of tracing unit economics end to end.
