Database Storage Growth Forecast Calculator
Project database storage from observed net growth, choose a forecast horizon, and estimate the monthly storage charge at your entered rate.

Storage growth scenario
Use net data growth after deletes or retention jobs; the rate is linear for this estimate.
Formula and assumptions
Projected size = current size + (net GB growth per day × forecast days). Estimated monthly storage cost is projected size × your price per GB-month.
The cost is an end-of-horizon run rate, not the cumulative bill over the whole forecast. It assumes a stable growth rate and price. It excludes replicas, indexes if not counted in current size, backups, I/O, tiering, compression changes, and provider-specific billing rules. Use measured growth from production and verify units (decimal GB versus GiB) against your invoice.
Frequently asked questions
How is future database size calculated?
Current data plus net daily growth multiplied by forecast days. This simple linear model is useful for a first capacity estimate, not a workload simulation.
Does this include backups and replicas?
No. Add separately billed copies to your capacity planning and use the provider’s definitions of billable storage.
